Issuance of Correction Direction under the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act to Mr Kenneth Jeyaretnam, Gutzy Asia and The Online Citizen Asia

1.       The Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Law Mr Edwin Tong has instructed for Correction Directions, under the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act (POFMA), to be issued to the following for articles or posts that contained a false statement of fact:

a.     Mr Kenneth Jeyaretnam in respect of his article on The Ricebowl Singapore (TRS) website, Facebook post, X post and LinkedIn post on 16 February 2024;

b.     Gutzy Asia, for an article on its website, Facebook post and X post on 16 February 2024; and

c.     The Online Citizen Asia, for its Facebook post on 16 February 2024.

2.       Mr Kenneth Jeyaretnam, Gutzy Asia and The Online Citizen Asia will respectively be required to carry correction notices, which state that the said articles or posts contain a false statement of fact and provide a link to the Government’s clarification. This will allow readers to read both versions and draw their own conclusions.
