Issuance of Correction Directions under the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act to Bloomberg L.P., The Edge Singapore, The Independent Singapore and The Online Citizen

- The Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Law Mr Edwin Tong has instructed for Correction Directions, under the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act (POFMA), to be issued to the following for articles and posts that communicate false statements of fact about Good Class Bungalows (GCB) transactions:
i. Bloomberg L.P., for its article on its website on 12 December 2024, and reposted on Bloomberg’s accounts on Facebook and X;
ii. The Bloomberg L.P. article was republished in full by The Edge Singapore on its website on 12 December 2024, and reposted on The Edge Singapore’s account on Facebook;
iii. The Independent Singapore, for its article on its website on 12 December 2024, and reposted on The Independent Singapore’s account on Facebook; and
iv. The Online Citizen, for its article on its website on 12 December 2024, and reposted on The Online Citizen’s accounts on Facebook and Instagram.
- Bloomberg L.P., The Edge Singapore, The Independent Singapore and The Online Citizen will respectively be required to carry correction notices against the original article and posts (or in a specified online location, where the article or post has been removed), which state that the said articles or posts communicated false statements of fact and provide a link to the Government’s clarification. This will allow readers to read both versions and draw their own conclusions.
